What should the compression be when turning the engine through by hand? How many times should it be turned over? Should I see the compression rise after a few turns like you would when turning an engine over with a starter? I have not tested it yet, hope to this weekend.
Thanks for any info.

JR, it depends on how fast you turn it, whether it's hot or cold, what pistons are in it & any other combustion altering modification that have been done over the years.
~Why are you wanting to test the compression? If it's for a starting problem it can be lower than a general engine condition test.
~If for a starting problem you want to test it cold & at only one puff on each cylinder. [probably 50+ psi]. If for total compression & engine running problems test it hot at wide open throttle with choke wide open [probably 65-70+ after about 3-4 puffs].
~You want to see how even it is & you probably want it to be within 5-8 psi from side to side. ~Watch the gage & see how much it gives you the first time over & how much it gains each time over, that will tell a lot about ring health. ~Give it a once over cold test [carb & choke open], then start it & warm it up then give it a hot test, 3 times over [choke & carb wide open]...
~Any questions on your results post back..... .....
