I have a JD300 diesel that I tolerate. while doing a engine rebuild,we decided to replace or rebuild the waterpump. Lordy, lordy it has 4 casting numbers. no problem, says the zitfaced counterman, there is an indention to mark the correct parts #. WRONG,faced it on a mill,no indention.Question: what is the difference in the 4pumps ? Can I buy an aftermarket pump and drill/tap to make it work? by is everything partswise a hassle with this POS? Half the parts I order for the actual tractor are not available.

When I worked in a JD shop, we always just rebuilt the old one.

if you are having that kind of trouble geting parts for your 300 you need a different parts man or dealer

Buy the parts to fix it...a bearing...a seal kit and an impeller...those parts should all be the same for all the listed pumps
