Hank, maybe it's as simple as too much choke. If the air can't get through the carb [past the closed choke plate] it can't carry any gasoline to the cylinders. Try cranking with a little less choke.
~If that isn't the problem give it a compression test, if the compression is good you probably have a carb problem.
~If you determine it's a carb problem, start with the inlet strainer [the hex headed bolt above where the carb inlet line attaches]. If ok there, & you have fuel flowing from the carb bowl bottom drain for at least 30 seconds you will probably have to go into the carb. Start by pulling the load nozzles & see if the little side holes are plugged with rust. If nothing found there post back with as much information about your problem as you can give us...

Well, no gas even when you choke it hard? I would look at the intake manifold, cracked, bad gaskets, warped etc. Gas in the carb won't help either if any of the passages and jets are full of crap. Put you hand over the air inlet to the carb (remove hose to air cleaner) and turn the engine over, if you get good suction there it is probably something bad in the carb. Also might try squirting a teaspoonfull of gas in each spark plug hole, install plugs and see if it will run a few seconds.
