Have a Edisson mag on 1938 JD D . Took the larger cover off to clean etc. I think i might not have got the gears back where they were in mesh. Is there timing marks to line up to be sure . Frank

Frank, yes there are gears to line up. It would help to know for sure what the mag is. Does it say CD 010 on the tag on the side of it?

Frank, yes there are timing marks on the gears. ~Turn the main distributor shaft until the little tic mark on the drive gear is at the top, then turn the points cam until the letter L on the big gear appears in the little window [bottom of the breaker plate area], then start the front cover on the dowel pins & look into that little window & make sure the little tic mark lines up with the L, if so push the front cover on & you are good to go...
