Guys,I need your help.I am a vo ag teacher trying to guide a group of students through the rebuilding of an A ser. no. 549039.It has a power block with pistons that measure 5.99''.We need to locate rings, gaskets, and rod bearings.I think the rods are a later style because they have replaceable inserts. We have made it this far by monitoring this site and videos out of Green Magizine.By the way,I have already checked my local Deere dealer. Thanks Lee

Lee,

The rods should be from a JD 60 if nothing other than the Power Block was changed. (No stroker crank or aftermarket stuff).

Good luck!

Steve

Lee, I too am an ag teacher. We are doing a JD70D. I found many of the parts under the "Tractor Parts" section of this site to the left of this post. I like to buy from them because they help support this site. Never had any problem with them. Email me if I can help. kkreek

You can get the piston rings from Total Seal,(800) 874-2753; I forgot how much they were, but I dont think they were that bad. Get the head gasket from an auto parts store and not Deere, its alot cheaper. Its fel-pro part# 7744sbx. You should be able to get the rest of the gaskets from Deere. You are correct that the rods are later because of the insert bearings. Im not sure, but Deere might have the rod bearings too. Hope this helps
