I've got a 4020 and when I start it up after it's been sitting a few days, and I raise the 3-point with no load, the lift arms have a lot of vibration in them. It lifts a load just fine and it doesn't do it with a load. I've just been curious what causes this or if it's something I need to worry about. I kind of wondered if some of the plungers in the pump might be sticking when the oil is cold and this causing a pulsation. Thanks for the info.

my 4020's been doin it for 25 years. It's a weak spring, bad seator ball in the check valve.
No matter cycle he hitch once or twice and your good to go.

My 2520 does the same thing. Usually works fine when warmed up. My guess is a leaking seal. Hydraulic system has never been touched, after 35 years it probably needs a little tlc.

I don't know what causes it, but mine's been doing that for years. Doesn't seem to be getting worse or better. Works OK though after it's been through a stroke or two.

There is a check valve that is letting hyd oil return to sump after tractor sits for a while.Hyd system has to refill itself after startup.Jim B

Gentleman Jim B is correct. The oil is draining back into the tranny after shutdown. There is an inexpensive fix to the problem. Your local dealer has the parts to fix. about 10.00.You need to install a check valve in the return line. This is easy to do,I would highly recommend it.this is available for 3020`s and 4020`s at least.Tell the dealer there was a service bulletin on it.

I think we used to thread the elbow fitting, on the kline to the pump and install check valve, I think it was out of 2630 hyd pump , been to long to remember. These guys are right there should be a service bullitin.
