Does anyone know of someone reproducing the hood fastners (cheaper than Deere) for the 40 thru 430 tractors? I have lost Correct Connections e-mail. They did not have them last year, thanks for any info.

There made by the Air-lock company in california,
a friend of mine bought a box of the battery door wing nuts to put with the doors he was making. They
were 1.50 each,but I think he bought 500.The hood
bolts were around .75 in larger volumes.

Thanks for all the replies, I have made them from various bolts, but nothing looks like the original, especially with the small print on them. I could use about 3 dozen now, thanks again.

Do you have an address for "Air-Lock"?

The last time I asked this same question, the answer that I got was that it is a JD Dealer part and at this time only available from them. I tried to cross reference then in a couple of catalogs (MSC and Fastenal) and came up dry. At this point, I am looking into making my own from a remachined carrage head bolt, washer and a cross pin. It would appear that they are assembled (the cross pin inserted) in the hood or nose piece. I don't remember the price quoted, but it seems to me like it was about $150 to do the whole thing. Without going out to the barn and counting, aren't there about 12 fasteners in total? I would be interested in 3 sets myself, if the price was anywhere near reasonable.

Maybe we can develope a demand and someone will go into serious production.

Wayne, correct connection was supposed to have them by now but I haven't tried to buy any from them... Correct Connection [814-926-2777] or [email protected]
~I have built those fasteners before by using 1/4" license plate type screws that had the correct type slotted screw head then drilled & used roll pins for the "T" part. I have also built them from 1/4" correct headed bolts & cut the screw slot in them. The proper looking attaching screws are not real easy to build but at $7.00+ per from Deere you can justify the time.

You type faster than I do. We both came up with about the same answer. I looked at toilet tank bolts, the head is very close to the original, but it has full lenght threads.
