I have just overhauled my 420c at JD dealer I installed a eletronic ignition and thought I had the world by the tail. It has probally 3 hours on it since O H when starting it cold it has a miss to it but if pull out choke a little it seems to clear up untill choke goes back open. I was pushing a little snow with it and it was misssing then like a light switch it quit and ran like a champ. What could the problem be?

Good Evening Mark, well hopefully, that new elec ignition isnt the problem. I wouldnt worry too much unless it persists, you might just flush a lil gas through the carb and bowl and tweak the jets a bit just to flush things out and remove any tell tale water or dirt and try her again. You might remove the plugs just to see what they look like and clean them and check the gap. Good Luck, Ol John T

Mark, there is no way of really knowing with the info you furnished. It could have been anything from a slightly fouled spark plug, to something in one of the carb jets, to the carb load needle set a little lean & after the engine warmed up it didn't need as rich a mixture, to an ignition switch acting up, to some other unknown. If it comes back try opening the load needle about 1/2 to 1 turn more & see what happens. If it doesn't come back suspect there was something caught in a carb circuit or a lightly fouled spark plug....
