Hauled home a John Deere model A, serial number 568000, has a wide front end, slant dash, and its got John Deere embossed on the rear axle housings. It is an all fuel and it has a pan seat with a spring and a shock absorber on the very back. I think people refer to this as a Monroe seat? Its got the John Deere hitch, 3pt(the man called it a 4pt, instead of a top link, its got 2 arms coming down.) What do I have? I know its a 46 but what year did they take John Deere off the axle housings?

Thanks for any info,
Morgan

Thanks Stan and CLW.. It also looks like the power lift was changed to a power-trol at some time in it's past. The foot peddals are still there but not connected. Thanks again !!

Stan is correct. Your 3-point could be a 800 or 801. CLW

Morgan,

Yep, it's a '46 model. I do not remember our '49 A having the John Deere on the rear axle, and a brochure I have (from 1947) about the late styled A and B tractors does not show it on the axle either.

Only a guess, but I would say the John Deere was removed at S/N 584000, the start of the pressed steel frame/battery-under-the-seat models in about March 1947.

Stan
