I have a rough A that I hope to fix up this summer . I have no experience with these old tractors and need some help. The Carb is not on this tractor and the one given me to put on it is a dltx46. What I have been seeing on E-bay and other adds makes me wonder if this is the right carb. One of the mounting ears is missing and I will have to replace it. What carb should I get?

AC Hodges, the DLXT 46 is a later model H carb. Way too small for any year A. If you give us the year of your A we can tell what DLTX carbs will work on it.

Go to the link I have included, it has the carburators listing for all JD's. The link is to roberts carb repair, he sells carbs and carb parts.. I have a DLTX 53 for sale that would need a throtle shaft, brass plug kit and Gaskets. Should be less than $30 in parts. The carb is a good carb that came off a JD A I had. It is in good condition and all the ports have been cleaned. I would take $145.00 for it.

It seems this is a 49 model A. Looked up the carb on the link and came up with the DLTX 71.I really appreciate all the help but think I'll hold off buying something till later. I guess the 53 would work just as well wouldn't it? I'll put the 46 back on it for now to keep out the wasps.
