Recently had to replace my computer, kept the old monitor, it is between 4 and 5 years old. On occasion now, my screen sort of jumps or flickers at the sides, just happens every now and then. I don't think it is a power surge, as my house lights don't blink. Does this mean my monitor is going bad?

Hi Wayne,

I work on PC's at the local college and I'd say you are probably right.

A video card will almost never give those types of symptoms, especially in the case where it is a new PC and older monitor.

Plus, if it is that old, I wouldn't even consider getting it worked on (very few people have a good expertise at that, anyway) - a new one isn't that expensive and plus, it will support your new video card much better than the old monitor would have in terms of refresh rates and pixel resolution.

Good luck with it!
