Frank, Some time ago you sent me a picture of the Model 45 loader connecting brackets. I didn't save it because I only had a Model 50....anyway now I really have a 45 (I think) and would like to know if you could find the picture again?? Also can you tell me how to connect the hydraulic hoses into my JD 50?? My operators manual doesn't have it. Bill

Bill:

I'm on the road in Cleveland, so I can't get you any new pictures, but here are some older ones. Disregard the diagonal brace that you see, it was an add-on and has since been removed.

I also put larger plates on the mounts (I think it was 5/8", maybe 3/4").

I don't have a complete installed picture for you, but maybe someone can provide one. I'll post a picture right after this of a '50' (It's either BlkSmok or Putt-Putt.....my CRS disease is acting up).

Anyway, let me tell you how I did it on the '70' which will be just like your '50'...do you have a hydro bucket ? If not, it's about the same, just curious.

I have the AA 5724 R selector valve which is located as one of the Pow-R-Trol plugs. This is the one with the split cap which allows you to turn it one way or the other and switch the flow to the rockshaft or to the remote cylinder. If you have this, just turn it the way to divert flow to the remote, and you can take the pressure and return off the pipe plugs on the right side of the P-trol box (I'll send you a picture of that). Then operate the loader with the P-trol lift handle. You might have to add some more oil as you try to lift the loader to top off hte P-trol.

If you don't have a diverter valve, then you have to hook the loader hoses to the remote cylinder plugs which are hollow and go in place of the P-trol plugs (the one that point to the rear). You install the hoses on those plugs, and install the plugs into the P-trol box. Then refill with oil because it'll run all over the place.

I think that's it. If I forgot anything, someone else will hop in and straighten me out.

Frank, Thanks for the response. I do have a 45. I see that I have some stuff to get too. The feller that I got the loader from said that there was a couple of brackets up front. Do you know what those look like? Unfortunately I don't have a bracket yet for one side of the the 50 loader. The bracket for the 50 is a big hunk of steel that I will probably have to wind up fabricating. I was going to put it on my G. That loader has a separate hydraulic control handle that the 45 loader doesn't have. No hydro buckets..just a trip on both. Thanks again. Bill

Bill:

You'll need to get the "tie-rods", which are 2" or so pipe that have LH and RH ends and used as big turnbuckles to go from the front side (on the frame about where the aircleaner cup centerline would be) to the inside top of the mast on each side. Then you extend those pipe turnbuckles to brace the masts down and against the frame.

The brackets that attach to the front frame are of a couple designs. Basically they are 3/8" plate with a dome in the center. Then a 3/4 fine thread grade 8 bolt is welded in the center hole of that dome sticking out. Then a big three fingered forged nut screws onto that to hold the turnbuckle fast. Same odd nut is used on the masts, so you'll need four to be correct. You can make it work with standard nuts and bolts, but you will want to use grade 8 stuff.

I don't have my loader on right now, but when I do, I'll send you a picture. In fact, I have a picture of a 45W on a 3010 that I'll be able to send you this weekend.

Frank

Here's what it looks like on my tractor, using the side elbows and hoses, which terminate with Pioneer-style quick-couplers.

The right one is offset to account for the clutch pulley.
