I was wondering where I could get a hood fastening set for a 730 and the special wrench to fit the hour glass type indention in the head of the bolts. I have looked in Green Magazine, but cant seem to find any ads for this. Thanks in advance for your help.

Will:

Snap-on has them in three different sizes. $11.33 each.

The screw heads are called "clutch heads". I found a big clutch head screwdriver at my local Ace Hardware. I got all my hardware from "correct connections" and the screwdriver worked fine. I got the large handle screwdriver as it gives you moree torque when screwing in by hand. Cost less than $10 three years ago.

You can buy the socket from the Snap-On web site. The part number is F30, for the 5/16 socket which should be the one you need. It costs around $11.00 and it's much easier than using a screwdriver. Good luck, John

Clutch head bolts are available from Correct Connection, Alden N Y. I will check the phone in the morning. I got several Clutch Head Drivers though the local Matco tool supplier. That address is also out in the shop.

Thanks for what you have given me thus far. Can I just get the bolts from them, or can I get the whole hood fastening set including clips, washers etc.? The whole set is what I would really like to get my hands on.

Will, when you contact Correct Connection you tell then what model tractor and Ser.# . They will ship you a complete kit which includes every bolt, washer, nut, spacer, etc. you will need including rubber bushings for hood. They will be packaged with part numbers and diagram showing where they are used. About $50 to $60. for whole kit I think. By the way, I dont remember the 730 using clutch head bolts. Their number is 814-926-2777

It is very possible that they didnt use clutch heads. I just thought they did. I guess I'll see when I get the set. Thanks a bunch for the info.
