I started my 4010 the other day and the Tachometer's indicator went from the low idle side (left) to the high RPM side (right). The engine started and ran like she should. I could tell when she was at idle speed and when she was at a higher setting. After I shut her down the needle didn't move. It is currently on the right side of the gauge. I haven't started to follow the linkage from the tach yet but would I be looking at a complete replacement of the gauge. It's not a problem right now for me cause I can tell when she is at 1000 RPM and about 1500 RPM. I would need the Tach when I start to use the PTO later this spring. Any suggestions on how I should handle this?

JW If you follow the tach cable from tach you will find it comes to an end at the tach drive on the right side of engine. Undo the nut that that secures the cable to the drive and pull out the flex cable inside. It may have twisted off inside and your tach is alright. But in all honesty your tach probably locked up and will need to be replaced.
