4020rockshaft housing??

Can anyone tell me if the rockshaft housing and SCVs from a late (1969-1972) 4020G could be installed on a early (1966) 4020D so I can use the newer style SCVs and the side console hydraulic levers & get rid of that 3pt lever cable. I have a parts tractor to scavenge the late parts from, so I'm not worried about the price of the salvage parts. What technical troubles would I run into with this swap?? Thanks for any advise, Mike3

Without having the tractors to actually look at, I pulled up the rockshaft housing gasket part number and did a "where used" search. The early 4020 and 4010 use a different number gasket than the late 4020, which leads me to believe that the bolt pattern is probably different, and the rockshaft housing is not going to be a direct swap, or possibly not swappable at all. The rockshaft housing parts numbers are definitely different as well. Even if the housings would swap, you would also have to do a bunch of changing as far as lines and everything goes, because the SCV valves are under the dash on your early 4020, not out back like on the late version. Only the couplers are out back on the early tractors, but you probably know that. I would say that you would likely be time, money and lots of frustration ahead to trade your early 4020 in on a late one, or learn to love the dash-mounted controls. Keep in mind that I am basing all of this off parts info, but I've worked on quite a few New Gens, and I don't think what you want to do can be done without a considerable amount of work and creative engineering (read that last as cobbling).

Thanks G MAN, just what I wanted to know. BTW the engine heater that you helped me with here, is now working We ended up ordering one for a 7810 tractor it was shaped differently than the 4440 unit, what ever they did now works, thanks for all the help.
