Here is a photo of my B with no serial number plate, it has the John Deere raised in the rear axle castings, the PTO shaft is 1 3/8". any help would be appreciated. I have been told that it is around 45.

In one post you stated that your frame "appears" to be angle iron. Someone else said that they can see that it is but I can't be certin from the dark picture. I have a '43 B with the cast frame and I must say it looks an awfull lot like yours but I might be wrong. An angle iron frame will be open underneth and cast will be full. Also, I see your grills are off. If you can find the part no. that is cast into the bottom tank of your radiator it would tell you what frame you have. B 2023 R was the tank used in the cast frame. It was a little narrower than the tank that was used in the angle iron frame. I'm not saying it "is" cast, only that I can't tell for sure.

Take a look at the main picture he has up. If you look threw the holes in the pulley side, you can see lite. The cast frame you won't see lite. I too have a cast frame 43B and a 43 angle iron frame A.

From the front wheels it has, it is 1944 or eariler. The 45 models had the reversible front wheels and different hubs.

It has the old drawbar assy so it is an early 40's model. By the way, HOW do you use it with that tire on backwards????? ???

Well, the draw-bar assembly is of 149699 and earlier. You state that it has 1 3/8" pto. It should have 1 1/8". But there was a kit to update the pto to "standard" size. You have 6 speed. Which came out for 41. You don't have the cast frame. Which came out after 300 tractors rolled off the Assembly line in 43. So, my best guess would be 41, 42 or the first 300 of 43.

If your tractor has the cast iron front support, witch it seems to have, then this would fall into the ser. #'s 136662-166999.
They went to a pressure type radiator cap that looks like the one on your car ,witch your tractor does not have, from ser. # 148500-166999.
The chart that I have for the 1943 model year shows ser. #'s 136315-149218.
This would fall into the time frame that they used the tin ser. # plates that were prone to rusting away and probably why you don't have one.
Therefore, this would likely put your ser.# between 136662-148499 making your tractor a 1943.
Just my very uneducated opinion.

He states that it is angle iron frame. Which I can tell that it is. So it most likely is not a 43 and is positively not a 44. He has 1 3/8" pto. Which didn't come out until the beginning of 44. I have to state that it is PROBABLY NOT a 43.

Definitely a wartime B, the serial number plate was tin, mine is a 42, the number plate is unreadable, six speed, no electrics(deleted due to the war), angle iron frame, with heavy plate between the frame rails right behind the radiator. john in ne.

First, you could get electric during the war. Hard to find, but you could. I have to disagree, not war. To many things pointing to not.

Well, With 1 3/8" pto, angle iron frame, that would be 45, 46 or very early 47. Just out of curiosity. How many holes are on your tractors seat? Some early B's where converted to 1 3/8" pto. And the 39-very early 43 B's had the same angle iron frame as the 45-47 B's. But with 6 speed, it is at-least a 41-early 43.

It is a six speed has the high low shifter, the frame appears to be angle iron.
