I need a little advice from you guys. What is a good flushing agent for the tranny? Is diesel fuel okay because I have that here. Thanks Denny

Denny, I also use Diesel for that application because its around the farm, but kerosene is probably good or better. I also use it then get everythign roatatign to clean, then flush and refill for a final cleaning then a LONGGGGG GGGGG G drain period and fill with oil. Good Luck Ol John T Nordhoff.

That is what I use just refill and drive around for 10 minutes or so, a couple of minutes in each gear and drain, if the fuel still looks crappy I refill with clean and do it again if it is cold where you are at you might have to flush it a few times as cold gear oil takes a little while to dilute

I used Diesel when flushing the transmission in my 50. I also used it to flush the PTO. My transmission case was at least half full of water when I got it. The PTO was even worse with a thick milky fluid that just oozed out the drain. My feeling is that the Diesel is the best of both worlds. Its enough of a solvent to clean things up and still has enough lubricating properties to prevent excessive metal-to-metal contact.

I drained the tranny and filled it with old Diesel. I think I then ran the tractor in 4th gear for 10-15 minutes before draining out the Diesel.

I'm sure there are a lot of good ideas on the subject.

John
