It will fit in. The amount of alteration involved will be determined on how old your 4010 is and how new the 4020 engine is. The 4020 engine does have four holes in block where the frame rail bolts to at the front of the block verses two in your 4010 but I think the original two holes in the 4010 frame will line up to two of the four in the 4020 block. Get your tape measure out and check it other than that it will bolt up front and back. I usually just put 4020 frame rails in when I swap these as it is allot stronger especially for loader applications. Good Luck Dave W.

If you do an overhaul on the 6380 engine in the 4010, you get the bigger 4020 sleeves and pistons. Once the bigger sleeves and pistons are installed, it IS a 4020 engine.

The story I got on this swap depends on how new of a 4020 engine you have I was told the late model engine uses a different size center hole onthe flywheel. you'll have to have it bored out, this may be BS but it is what I have been told.

It will bolt right in with no modifications whatsoever.

I haven't acutally put a 4020 motor in a 4010, but I have put a 55 series 466 cu in motor in a 4010 and it was very little trouble. Don't think you will have a big problem putting any of the small block deere motors in a 4010.
