I was flipping through this month's Green Magazine and on page 55 in the top left hand corner, there's an ad for a 1958 630 and a 15 foot batwing. The ad makes it sound like the 630 and batwing are a pair- like the 630 is supposed to run that size bush hog. On the cattle farm I work on we have a 90 hp Case and a 105hp International that work our 15 foot batwing. That bush hog gives the Case all it wants, especially when climbing hills. The International works fine with it. I can't imagine attaching that size of a bush hog to a tractor that doesn't even exceed 50 ponies. Is my thinking right? Or, is it possible to efficently run a 15ft batwing off a 630? Thanks for any thoughts on this one.

Overloading machinery is part of the history of agriculture. From my experience I've found most of the farmers buying one size tractor than they needed with the thought of saving money. If anything this drastically increased the mortality risk of farming and increased the cost of production. Personally I've never seen anyone complain of too much power in a tractor.

My 6410 has a load with a 15ft mower in tall
weeds,it's 90 hp.A guy on this site said he was
pulling a 24T JD baler with an 8N ford.You can't
believe half the stuff people say.

We use a 24t with 8N. We just watch the speed on the tractor....haven't had anything break except for a shear pin on the baler when I turned a corner a little to close....other then that nothing wrong with it...we do about 75 acres of hay with it

We pulled a New Holland 68 baler behind our 1950 Ford 8N whenever the John Deere's were busy doing something else, and never had a problem.

When i was a kid working for dad we pull an oliver pto bailer with a 1944 9n ford so he could combine with the G , and with no problems. We have flat ground, which makes a difference. I havew a 630 now and everybody forgets they have the same horsepower that a 70 does, they are rated at 52 horse

The baler alone would weigh more than the tractor,
a loaded bale wagon would weigh more than the
tractor,probably a 500 pound tongue weight,what
do you do in a heavy windrow to slow down without
live pto, looks like it would just plug the baler.

Too much cutter for that tractor if you want to really cover some ground. We pull our our 15 Servis Rhino with our 4430 (4th or 5th gear) or our 4440 (B2 or C2) but it is the heaviest cutter for its size that Ive ever seen. We used to pull it with our 4020 but in heavy stuff, itll smoke the PTO clutch if youve got the slip clutches too tight.

my 620 pulls one in 2nd gear with no problem and 3rd in lower grass but any higher gear is hard on her.....620 and 630 are basically the same.

I saw the add you were talking about the other day and was wondering the same thing. Our friend has a 620 that they use a 8 foot brush hog on and you engage the pto and you would think the thing was going to stall out. What's the deal with the price? $12,000 plus $9250 for the mower. Maybe it was supposed to be 12,000 for the pair.
