JD 300 corn husker

I need the rubber tire carcass disks for the husking rolls for a 300 husker. Would someone know where you could get them? JD only sells the complete roll, I have bought 2 to replace the most badly worn rolls on my husker they need $370 each. I have taken one of the rolls apart and it does not seem like it would be a hard job to replace the disks (time consuming but not hard). Maybe their would be a third party parts supplyer that could make up the disks (I am sure I'm not the only one with worn out rolls). They are 3" in diamator with a 1 1/4" square hole in the center.

Wayne, if you're going to replace all of them on all 6 rollers, you're going to need hundreds of them. My advice would be to have a machine shop make a hardened steel punch that would cut both the OD and ID. Probably could be done for a hundred dollars or so. Buy a sheet of rubber the correct thickness from McMaster-Carr, and punch them out with an arbor press. I've made several punches like this for my employer. It would take a lot of old tires, and I doubt if you'd have much luck with todays steel belted tires. By the way, the parts book shows the shaft as being hex, not square. I've got a bunch of them for an Oliver picker, but they're completly different dimensions. Jim.

Your tight about the number of disks I figure about 750 for 4 rolls (I baught 2 from JD). The ones I have taken out of the Husker are the ones I've taken apart. Your right about the end of the rolls being 1" hex shaft but that is welded to 1 1/4" square bar. My thaughts on making a punch and die would be along the line of a wood spliter that operated off tractor hyd.
I was realy hopping that a third party parts supplyer might take up the cause but it may be to costly to tool up not knowing how many 300 huskers are still working. It will be an interesting winter project.

I would make my own.Drive a nail through a piece of tire sidewall and set a sabre saw or sawzall (coarse blade)in a slot under the board that you nailed the rubber to.Fasten the saw to the board so it won't move and then spin the rubber around (slowly of course).Then cut the square center out with a sabre saw ,starting in the nail hole.Sumpin like dat.
