I have been looking for a detachable link chain sprocket to fit my corn sheller since the one that was on it broke off years ago. Anybody know of a manure spreader with a chain sproket like this around 10 inches in diameter and with a 15/16" hole? Or any sprocket with that size hole that I could use? Thanks!

If the chain is the smaller detatchable link, our JD 494 corn planter has a sprocket about that size on the Gandy insecticide boxes. I think the shaft is about 3/4", but any machine shop can bore it out to fit your needs.

Just out of curiosity, are you offering that sprocket to sell, or just for cross reference? If you would consider selling it, would you measure the chain and/or get the numbers off of the chain links and see if the two are compatible. Email me and we can talk. If not selling, I do appreciate the information and I will begin looking around. Thanks!

Just for reference. The dimensions you mentioned sound about right though. We havn"t used our Gandy boxes for years, but this year we noticed some corn borer, so we"ll be needing them next year. Where are you from? There are a few good bone yards in my area that have JD planters.

Try All States Ag Parts, they are a conglomerate of several boneyards, I hope they can help.

I'm now located in iowa. I haven't really been able to locate any good boneyards around here so i'm trying the internet route. I know of one guy that does a lot of torching but if that doesn't work out, then it's back to the drawing board.

Iowa should have a bone yard about every 50 miles, like MN. :) However the scrap price boom of a year ago cleaned a lot of places out.

You'd never know it where i'm at. Only bone yards I see (only one) is kinda small and all cars. Only seen one guy even cutting up scrap.

Well, i went and pulled 3 links and I can barely read anything on them. I *think* I can make out 45 on the better of the three but they are so lightly stamped it"s hard to tell. For reference, the inside dimensions of the links are 1.125 from inside of roller to inside of roller, and 13/16 inside from side to side. I appreciate any help you can give me.

So, what is the model/ make of the cornsheller? Something common like a MM, or is it a hand crank deal, or what are we looking for here?

Could be easy to find you one if we knew where it went, exact size. :)

Sorry for the multiple posts earlier, the computer went crazy. What I have is actually a hand-cranked/belt powered IHC 2 hole steel corn sheller. Very un-common. It's actually the first all steel one that I've seen but have since run across two others. They aren't even mentioned in the "150 years of international harvester" book. The wooden XL keystone and keynote shellers are mentioned, but not the steel versions. Even the picture of the one on the wisconsin historical society's archives is different from the one I have. So, yeah, it's uncommon. However, since the sprocket I am looking for only drives a discharge elevator, the speed and therefore size of the pulley is not of extreme importance. The one i'm looking for is roughly 10-12 inches in diameter but I can go smaller so long as it uses the same chain and has the same shaft bore. Thanks.

Jeb

BTW, i had posted some pictures of it earlier on the Implement Photos galler. Just search for IHC sheller pictures posted by me.

I see. I have the single hole version, doesn't have the big discharge deal. They make great walnut dehuskers. Used ours for that for years now. :)

We need to know what pitch chain or chain number you use and how many teeth on the sprocket.

I have no way of knowing how many teeth were on the sprocket but I can be flexible on that. I beleive that it uses the standard #32 chain but i'll check this afternoon and get back with you. My main concern is that it will fit my chain and that it fits on a 15/16ths OD shaft. I'll get back to you on the chain number. Thanks!
