Michael: On Tues. my good better half and I made our annual treck to have a quick look at fall colors, Vincents in Exeter for items like oil filters, points, etc. Always like to have a few spares on hand. We then went on to Steve Radford's for a few tractor items. ( Super A light lens, gear shift knobs, etc. In Londsburough Marg. suggested we take a different route home, see more fall color.

Ah ha, I said to myself, turn at Clinton and cross to County Rd. 31. Yea, we'll see if Mike Soldan is out entertaining the bull with bale of hay. Now I was really counting on seeing this performance. No Michael, bull was entertaining himself or the cows. Place looks good with that nice new shed. You must have more than adequate square footage there. Heck no, your just like every other farmer, building was full before you got the finish on it. How many square feet do you have there?

From there we drove right across the Zurich road unto gravel and continued south until we hit No 7. Real nice forest stands down that gravel road behind Hensal and Exeter. Just a good day in Huron county, all kinds of folks out doing corn and beans. Saw one guy that spilled a whole wagon load of pumpkins on the road. Several vehicles stopped, didn't see any vehicle damage but I have a feeling a tractor trailer ran through the spilled pumpkins. He didn't have many whole pumpkins left. I think it was a loader and manure spreader clean up.

Sorry I missed you, about time for a tractor discussion.

Hi Hugh, sorry I missed you , I was doing a job for my boss at his farm about 12 miles south west, got back to the farm around 4ish and I did come down the same road you took and did see the pumpkin carnage. Well the new shed is 40x80 and is already too small as the saying goes. I do need to pack stuff in a little tighter and then will have room for a few more toys. The Farmallkid came for the threshing machine last Friday so I have room upstairs in the barn for a couple of wagons, freeing up the shed a bit. You took a nice route in what locals refer to as the hay swamp, a protected wetlands that runs for miles, very scenic and then gradually you get into some pretty good farmland as you go south of that. Sorry again I wasn't there, hopefully we can hook up for a visit. I need to get up to Steve's before winter to get a few things for the B250. I won't get restoring it this winter, thinking about tackling the old Powerwagon..new southern box and driver's door would pretty well take care of the body work, will paint the frame when I have the box off, then prep everything and take it to my local body man for the actuall paint job. I had the truck in great shape when I worked at the service station so its time for cosmeticts and it will be cheaper than buying a new truck. I figure I can spend seven or eight thousand and have a truck like new even if I drop a rebuild into it as well..lots of work ahead, we'll see what the winter brings...take care for now Hugh...Mike in Exeter Ontario
