Hi All , I found a well taken care of 4-16 oliver semi mount . Has anyone used one of these ? Any comment's on it ? This one has all speedex moldboards ( still had the paper tags on one of em ) and it appears most everthing from the frogs down has been replaced in the last few years . Like most things around here it's been kept outside so it need's some paint but the man said he kept the bottoms coated in the off season's and they had a coating on them when I went and looked at it Fri . It's been welded on ( a small bracket behind the hitch ) a small amount , nothing major . It has spring loaded corrugated coulters but I didn't measure them to see if they were worn . Are all parts readily available at ??? ( insert local favorite retailer ) ? Is $500 reasonable ? Thanks ...Randy

There are a bunch of things to think about befor if price is reasonable. 1, Is the unit the size you want? 2, Is it a make you will be satisfied with? 3, Will it fit your tractor? 4, Do you have the money? 5, Is it in that good of condition? 6, Do you need it this year, next year, 5 years from now? 7, Is there any others of that size avaible now? 8, If there is are they good or wore out and need that much $ in parts to get to work? 9, Can you wait for that 5 years to find anouther? I find that if I pass something up I will never find anouther unit! 10, Depends on your answers to these questions will tell you if it is a good price, if you need it now and you try to wait fore something cheeper that is not what you want and find it way after you need it is it too high a price at 3 times what they are asking for it? You can't say something is only worth this much if you need it and can't find anouther one. And here in Ohio you do not even find wore out ones at consignment sales any more. If some one has a good unit they keep it, if it was wore out then it was to the scrap yard a long time ago. I could not go out now and find a 4-16 of any condition now anyplace.

Hi Leroy , 1 , 2 , and 3 - yes , yes and yes . #4 - sort of , #5 - seems to be , #6 - maybe , maybe and yes , #7 - not that I've seen , #8 - ? , #9 - no , I hear ya on this one ! , #10 - This is one of those dam#ed if I do and dam#ed if I don't situations . It need's paint but the working part's look good , it's been kept up off the ground and water hasn't been allowed to collect under it , and it was used two years ago . The farmer is retiring this winter but doesn't want to have an auction . He farmed 160 acres of his own and another one he rented . Thanks for the input! ...Randy

I would think if it was me I would go for it as I said if it is what you need and need close by and have no fall back unit to go to I could not afford to try to hunt anouther unit and the way I phrased it those questions would be the same for any implement as timely getting is worth more than a lower price and not having when needed, let us know if you buy it, Leroy

That sound way high from ones I seen sell,have a customer whao has a unuit for sale if he still has it and I am sure it would be less. $300 has been high here and lucky to get that last unit i sold was a nice deere unit for 150.00 the auctioner that had it on his sale got no bid,gave it to me see if could get rid of it

In Ohio that is a 100 dollar plow. UNLESS you are a collector then it is a fair price. Have to be a spring trip 16/18 to get to 500.

Oliver is part of AGCO. Dealer locator is at www.agcocorp.com. Around here, plows don't bring much anymore. $500-1000 for 4-5 bottoms, newer reset plows. But it's like old pickup trucks- get down to a certain value and stay there. Price the parts- typical moldboard is 80-100, shins 10-15, lays 12-15.

I have a 4bottom oliver plow.IT has a nitrogen can. To reset:Do you know what model this is.
