Plow size for 4010 Gas

I have a 1962 4010 gas which I would like to use to plow 30 acres of ground here in central NJ, in the Delaware Valley region. The ground for the most part is a heavy clay. I would like opinions on which type of plow would be best. Either a small 14" 4 bottom semi mount or a larger say 16" 3 bottom 3 point? I do not want to overwork the machine to hard, since I need her to last until I win the lottery or can save enough for a rebuild.

I have clay soil, so I understand the smaller plow idea.....

Bigger bottoms plug up less on trash, so I would prefer the 16 inch myself. If you never plow cornstalks or other heavy trash, makes little difference.

You will not save up money plowing with a big gas engine tractor. :) Good luck. :)

The 4010 was advertised as being a 5 plow tractor, and in ideal conditions the tractor would easily handle a 5 bottom plow. The truth is that very few people have ideal conditions, so most dealers recommended a 4 bottom plow. We had very good luck pulling a 4-16s fully mounted with our 4010 gas, and could easily run in 5th gear, really tough sod required 4th gear, and I did encounter some sod in a permanent pasture that caused me to downshift to 3rd.
