I just bought what I believe to be an van brunt model b. the id tag is hard to read but i think that is what it is. Is almost 13 feet wide wheel to wheel has galvanized seed boxes, all levers work fine and it has 18-7 on the gal box. I believe something is missing from the control to lower it to the ground, there are some brackets that look like there should be a rod that goes through it leading to the front of the tongue. Any info on the age, how to engage and lower the disks to the ground and if a operator and parts manuel are available wounld be appreciated. Also I believe that it has seen some recent use as all levers for seed flow work fine, discs are not rusted and it is very well greased.

I'm not real clear on your description of lift either but sounds like you need a hydraulic cylinder or ratchet screw jack. The drills had those type lifts or levers or a chain lift ground drive clutch lift. There was a model B, B-B, & B-C and variations of those. Sounds you have 18 openers at 7" spacings. JD will have copies of the manuals for it 800-522-7448 or check their site. Local dealer if a good one might even have a manual holed away?

A picture would be a great assist, but without it I would guess that you have a drill set up for a remote hydrolic cylinder. And, yes Operator Manual and the Parts Manual is available thru JD.
