I purchased a piece of property with several pieces of farm equipment on it. I know nothing about this stuff, its use or value. Any help would be appreciated. One of them is made by John Deere and has a serial number plate that says Type E00480 on it and 480 in yellow letters underneath. It is a "side pull" with a PTO shaft that drives a rotating "drum" with harrow tines on it, behind and below that is metal plate with teeth like on the front of a bucket loader that feeds material into a roller combination the bottom roller has rubber tire tread like material on it, on top is a metal roller that has flutes cut in it. Then come the transport tires that can be raised with the hydrolics. The whole thing is about 8 feet wide and 10 feet long including the hitch point and PTO shaft.

Are you serious?

That is a Mower/conditioner. Commonly known as a "haybine" even though "haybine" is a trademark of New Holland.

As to value - not much. You'll be streching to get 500 dollars from one in very good shape. Scrap value if it's been sitting outside.

Oh - duh. Couldn't figure it out from the description, I was thinking too hard. Yea, makes windrows of hay for baling.

Model 480? Not so familiar with JD stuff, must be an old unit, before the 1207/ 1209 series?
