I have a JD #18 one row pull type corn picker. Does anyone have any info on these. When were they made? This is only the second one I have seen. Were only very few made? It is not even mentioned in the Jd books I have. It is only mentioned that a experimental model was made. Is this an experimental or a full scale production model? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks to everyone for all the info. If anyone has more info please send it. I wish I got this much info on the # 450 planter lister I have. I still have not found anyone that has the fertilizer attachment parts I need. If anyone knows of one of these sitting in a fence row or scrap yard, let me know

Don't know about the IHC picker as they were never sold around here that I know of as I have never seen one here either, N. I. Oliver, Woods Bros., A. C. and J. D. what was around here and even tho the New Idea was made 40 mile from here when it became time for Dad to replace the old General Implement picker; 1946 model; in about 1953 he regected the New Idea as being an infereior picker and instead bought a new Oliver No. 5 picker and the John Deere 200 picker was a 2 row pulltype that took 4 rows husked by hand to get thru to start picking and there were very few 2 row pickers in this area

I cannot even imagine a pull type corn picker, much less a one row. The only one row I have ever seen in the field was a 127 mounted on a JD 50.
My dad and his brothers would run 2 and trade 227's and 237's every other year because of the amount of corn run through them.

North,

If you'll send me an e-mail at [email protected] I'll send you a scan of a picture from a brochure. Yes, they did exist, along with the No. 200 (late '40s), No. 10 (one row from early '40s) and the No. 20 (two row from early '40s).

The last year they were made was 1971. My book doesn't indicate what year they were introduced. It does show they were in production in 1961. They are not real common, but not rare.

I think late 50's and I do have a sales brochur (SP), picked up at same time as for the 520-530 tractor book I have, but have never seen one. When they came out people were getting away from the 1 row for 2 row pickers and also the corn head shellers, just should have been put on the market 10+ year sooner as there compitation was the Oliver No. 5 that was on the market in mid 40's-50's and the New Idea #7? also of the 40's-50's
