I actually went to the trouble of making one of these things a couple years ago. Welded up a frame from steel pipe, used a tank from an old sprayer and strung 3/4" nylon rope between 2" PVC pipes by drilling holes and using threaded PVC plumbing connections. Probably spent $50 on it. If you can find one like these guys are talking about, go for it.
The wiper worked pretty good, but all I did was knock the Johnsongrass back some. Didn't get rid of it. I finally killed the field with Roundup and I'm still fighting the stuff.

Bought a factory made unit for $1 (one dollar) at a farm sale that would cover 6 row narrow. Bought a big frame unit, pressurized tubes, V-shaped rop wicks, ajustable height, 8 row narrow for $25 a few years ago. If you are in ag country, go hunting locally with a $10 bill & you should come home satisfied. They are worthless now with RU beans, everyone has one laying in the back of the shed they ain't using.
