anyone know where i can get a lift cylinder for a 1209 moco? The parts book shows it can be rebuilt, but took it to a machine shop they said it"s a throw away.(no way to get into it).It looks to be the original.Would JD do that?Or have a special tool to open it up?I looked on JD website they want 345.00 for a new one.Anyone know anything about this cylinder?Info would be appreciated.....

Looks like it is rebuildable.Called Deere they said go in through the inlet hole the piston has a snap ring and 2 grooves on the end of the shaft, move the ring to the other groove and it should come right out.Haven't tried it yet but on my way to get the seal kit-$12.75 Thanks for info...

That's the same system they used on the slave wheel cylinders on the 830 7000 planter. From the outside it seems like no way to disassemble, but you need to unscrew the hose that powers the cylinder, to find the snap ring. I'm sure some engineer got promoted on that fiasco. Should have used the KISS system.

Deere offers a seal kit for it so it's rebuildable. There are many way's that the cylinders are held together. It looks like that cylinder is held together with a snap ring, remove the ring and push in the retainer and pull the piston and rod assembly out. If all else fails have your JD dealer look at it, even with their green labor rate it should be cheaper to rebuild than buy a new one.
