Weight of an Oliver 2 bottom

Plow? Its a 2 bottom 16 plow on rubber. I want to load it on my truck with my lift but it will only lift around 750lbs so is the plow to much for it?? Thanks

4240 probably is pushing 550 lbs

Give it a try, if the plow is too heavy the lift won't pick it up. I load and unload my IH 2-14s all the time using my H and loader, the tractor doesn't even know it is working. I really doubt if your plow weighs any where close to 750#.

Guess I should have said a little more about this lift. Its a swings boom lift that is mounted on the side of the bed. Has a 1000lbs boat trailor wench mounted on the top of it and a hyd, jack to lift the arm. Found out the hard way that it wouldn't lift a 6 foot brush hog and broke it at the base. I've fixed it since just don't want to do it again. I'm taking the plow with me to a show since at this show there isn't much in the way of old equipment there.

Hi Old , Don't know the answer to that but with some of the plows I've seen looking for one it would probably come close to 500 lbs . It would almost have to or it would float on the surface wouldn't it ? Or do you set plows up to always dig down and rely on the gauge wheel or three point and draft control to keep it steady and true ? I've been reading up on draft control on my Oliver and from what I can tell the plow goes kind of like this ~~~~~ in the ground when the draft control works right as it encounters differing ground hardness ? Anyway , that doesn't need a response unless you have the time . I guess I'd try lifting it slowly and watch the boom very closely . If it start's to bend you got your answer :+ 0 . ...Randy

Part of the way a plow works is to pull its self in to the ground. You have to have it set so it has the tips or points of the plow angled down a little but not to much. On the type of plows I loading theres a wheel on both sides and the way there set is how deep it will plow. On a 3 point system its where you set your lever as to have far it goes down.
