Does anybody have any information on replacing the wheel bearings on the model 44? (transport wheels)

Thanks Bob and Glen

Does anyone know if you can get aftermarket shares for these plows? I called JD and they wanted $100 a piece, and said their were 2 left in syracuse and 2 out in michigan somewhere.

If you have a #44 plow there are no precision bearings in the wheels, they used a replaceable chilled sleeve which is fairly easy to replace, I don't know if new are available though. A parts catalog or owners manual would be an immense help, and are available from Deere publications at 800 522-7448. If you have a #444 plow (disc wheels) it has roller bearings same advice goes for that one.

Bob is right that it uses just a sleeve bearing. Both sides used a X264A sleeve and JDparts site says invalid number. Same sleeve for steel wheels or rim with tires on the 44, 44A, 44H, & 44AH plows. The tail wheel used a different part number on sleeve. If the cast box or shaft isn't too wore the sleeve can probably be made out of some machine bushing material or tubing turned and bored to fit. If it has the clutch lift box on one side then it rides on a cast box sleeve and a hub.
