The combo manual I have shows the round JD fertilizer attachment hopper assembly with can and base unit as one piece MD678D, N4126D Star regulator wheel, and MD773D Agitator assembly. If they are 4 sided cone shape hoppers they could be the John Blue 61 U.D. side dressing attachments. These could be mounted and adapted to fit the JD 51 fertilizer drive also.

You have me confused with that model number on a 2 row mounted John Deere planter. The 450 John Deere planter I have is a 4 row clutch lift on steel wheel planter made from about 1938 to 1942 and uses the same planter units that were used on the GP 3 row tractor mounted planter starting in 1929 and on the Model C tractor in 1928 that was the forerunner of the GP. And we had a 246 John Deere 2 row mounted planter and I now have a JD 999, 290, 490, 494, & 494A planter as well as that 450 4 row

Maybe they made another 450 later?? He asked about a 2 row 450. OMA42355 I have copies of shows the JD Integral Lister or Middlebreaker Nos. 450 and 460 Series Planters for JD model 40 tractors. Inside it lists 8 450 series, Model No. 451-458 and 8 460 series, Model No. 461-468 2 row lister planters and lists many many other attachments for them as well. These all used the PA301 to PA326 planting attachment unit planters just mounted to a diamond tool bar. So with all those combinations who knows what model number it could really be? Use to see them here as 4,6,8,10,12 row before 71 and Max Emerge planters came along.

The 450/460 manual I have shows the fertilizer hopper can and bottom only as a assembly part no. MD678D. You can get copies of manuals through JD publications at 800-522-7448 or on their site. You will probably have to get operators manual and parts catalog from JD seperately. The one manual I have #OM-A42-153 is a combination manual and shows parts also but not for sale. I do have some extra copies of just operator manual OM-A42-355 for 450/460 Planters if you are interested email me.

Thanks everyone for all the help. The planter I have has the #450 decal on it. It has the diamond shaped tool bar with the planter units mounted on it. It is 3 point mounted. The JD tractors and implements book that shows all the tractors and implements up to the new generation shows a picture of it, and yes it is shown on a mdl. 40. I have all the fertilizer attachment drive parts except for the drive base that the hoppers sits on and the stirator part. I have the hopper (cans) available. I think they are the same as a 290. I also have a 246-247 planter, and this is completely different. Does anyone have the parts I need???? They are unavailable through JD. Thanks for any help
