Notched Disc Harrow Vs. Smooth Disc

I have a new disk harrow where the front disks are notched and the rear disks are smooth. Some different versions had all notched disks (front & back). What is the purpose of the notched disk versus the smooth disc in the way they work the field? Thanks.

notched blades cut trash better, penetrate hard ground better, cut in better, and wear out faster

smooth blades last longer and level a little better

The notched discs work better in ground with a lot of trash. They also cut more agressivly than the smooth and leave the ground rougher.

Notched discs do better in cornstalks. Doesn't matter in rocks/stones- they both break.
