boom pole question

I just picked up a used 3 pt. boom pole for my TO 30. It's made of steel tube and looks like the one shown on the Howse website. I need to get a top link to use with it but I'm not sure know how long it should be. Any advice would be most appreciated!

I bought a used King Kutter boom pole at an auction for $30. With a standard toplink I was having a problem lifting my truckbed toolbox out of the truck....couldn't make it go high enough. So I bought a shorty top link and now I can pick the box waaay up high. But If I want to set it down I have to set it on a set of sawhorses.

Different circumstances may dictate different needs. Get a long toplink and a short one so you're covered no matter what you need to lift.

I just use a piece of chain with a hook on it and hook it as long as I need in the place of the top link.

I inherited an old timer that is worth its weight in gold, no idea of the brand

using standard upper link it won"t go far enuf down, bot extra-long link at Tractor Supply and that did the trick

might want to add front weights if carrying heavy stuff

I use a hydraulic cylinder for the top link which extends the vertical travel range of the boom pole. But it requires an auxiliary (remote)hydraulic outlet.
