Dry here now but thats pretty normal. I cut 4 cuttings of alfalfa, non-rrigated and the best I'v ever seen and likely never will again. Corn polinated the week of Red Power 115 on Thursday and over 100 all that week. Needless to say, the corn didn't make. Then I cut the burned up corn for hay and it started raining, wouldn't ya know? Rained off and on for two weeks, finally got the feed rolled up but it is pretty black stuff. Pastures are greener than I have ever seen them this time of year and the cows are fat as butter. Calves at $1.57 and things are looking up. But ya, we have had plenty foggy mornings the last couple weeks and the old timers say 90 days to a big snow. Some of that poor quality fodder might look pretty darn good before the grass grows again.

Here in central NC we can't even get rain from a hurricane. Got 1 mm (less than half a tenth of an inch) out of Ophelia - but 20 miles east they got 3-4 inches. East of I-95 got pounded and all we got was a stiff wind to dry stuff out even more. At least the humidity has gone up.....

I feel your pain. I farm in NY State about 60 miles NW of NYC. We haven't had decent rain in months. Had a decent first cutting but no second or third. Corn dried up and the little ears it has are hanging down looking like they are going to fall off. I don't think I have ever seen it this dry.
