what size disk for mf 265 8 ft or 10 possibly 12 can get used 8 ft with new hyd cyl for $525 seems to be in fair shape but wondering if i should look with something bigger Thanks

thanks for the input I was kinda thinking that the 8 ft was a bit small but the price was good think that I will look a little longer and maybe find a 10 ft

I pull a 10 foot with a MF255. DOn't believe I would go over 10.

We purchased a new 265 with the uncommon 15.5X38 tires. Pulled a IH model 37, 12 ft tandem disk. Worked good in corn stalks, but was definitely enough load in plowed ground. Couldn't reasonably expect to pull an implement behind the tandem disk on initial pass, plowed ground. Without the larger tires, I probably would not recommend a heavier 12 ft tandem in all conditions. An 8 ft is mighty small, but the price is pretty good. As others have said, a 10 ft would be a good all around choice.

Hi Wally, the MF 265D was rated about 50 drawbar HP, so depending on soil type a 10 ft tandem disk with 18" blades maybe correct. Some trail type tandem disks can be adjusted easily for the angle of cut. The more angle to the disk the more power required to pull it. Also some disk blades have more of a dish to them and they cut better so require more power. If you have a small acreage a 10 ft is easier to transport and get through gate ways etc. Most 12ft disks don't fold up for transport but greater than 12ft usually fold up for transport.

Depends on what kind of disk you are talking about; disk plow, offset disk, heavy tandem disk, or tandem disk harrow?

when a man says a disk, generally what do think he means? When he tells you he has a 265 MF would you reckon he means a disk plow?

99% of folks know he means a disk harrow and most of them are tandems.

That 265 will yank a 10 footer with no problems.
