I purchased a #39 mower in excellent condition, fully 3pt mounted. My question is, what JD tractors were these mowers designed to fit on? Guy I bought it from tried it on a foreign tractor and said it was very hard to put on and take off, so he sold it to me for $125 bucks with extra new pitman stick. Mower has excellent original paint and decals on it. I may sell it if I don"t have a tractor it will work on. Is it worth only $125, or a bit more? I thought $125 was plenty reasonable.
Thanks for any info.

Is it a 39N or a 39W? the N model (narrow) was for the utility tractors 420s etc and the W or Wide was for the larger rear wheel width like the 520/620. If you got it for a $125 you should be taken off to jail for theft. Good on ya! BobG in VA

Interesting. Did not know that. I looked and it is a 39W according to the tag. Thanks for the info.

They are a very good mower once they are mounted on a tractor. Not the easiest mower to hook up though. There are two different sets of brackets for attaching to 3 point hitch arms. The round notched kind typically fit Deere 4010-4020 arms. The square knotched brackets are for most other makes and models of tractors. If the mower is in as good a shape as you say then you got a REAL deal on it.Easily worth $300 in my opinion.
