bale weight from JD baler

Recent case in point. I bought a new to me used baler. Expected it to be ready to bale. Not so. Had rain on the way and baled abnormally large bales. Butted them end to end. Hay was too green/wet and the things would have caught on fire, had they had access to oxygen.

The center was burned to a crisp; just crumbled in your hand. The outer half was real nice as it didn't overheat.

Set the bales out and you guessed it. They ate the burned part first. Beats me.

Had a neighbor with an erosion problem. Had some hay rolls that were like 5 years old. Dumped them in the gully. The pasture was in good shape so the cows weren't hungry from lack of provisions.

Came back sometime later (week or so) and only thing left was scraps and twine.
