I am gonna sell my NH super 66 baler. I am puchasing thrower baler ( just better suits my needs till the kids are older) It does not miss a beat on the knotters and mechanically all it needs is a better mounting for the pto support to the baler tongue. It is mechanically challenged but i can give her a nice paint job if the buyer thinks it will bale better pretty. What would be a fair price for this here peice.

I've never been impressed with the bale wagon idea. Went to a thrower baler in '74- one 16 foot, three 18 foot. Built them with side doors, others have front openings- both are good ideas. Never a problem unloading bales from them- with side doors it's a matter of removing a half dozen bales from the top before I get the side doors open. Front unloading with the tip down platform means carrying more bales the full length of the wagon compared to side unloading. Bale wagons mean dumping the entire load on the ground over too many feet to carry them back to the elevator, plus they don't hold as many bales. I got 140-180 bales with the thrower wagons. With thrower wagons we unloaded DOWN or ACROSS to the elevator, not UP.

JMS; That fine its what ever works for you,but it does appear that you have never actually used one, anyway you do not have to string them out in a pile to unload for elevator,we always just pulled up to elevator like you are with other wagons trip the gate and they will just slide down to you to unload. You never climb in wagon at all. The amount of bales all depends on the length of bales you are making so that can be wide variation as per capacities. All I know is that I would never go back to the thrower after running the baskets for years. alot less baler problems in the thrower area also since any baler will work with them. But like I said earlier if what you have works for ya thats fine, cause thats all that matters. I run accumulator system nowdays. smallest loads now are 200- 250 up from there

That's true- haven't used one, just watched some neighbors with them....and the bales scattered around. Just figured I was more satisfied with the existing setup. Plus, when I'm baling a few miles from home I like to hook wagons together for the return trip.

I did that also just had a clamp on rear hitch. Yes they will scatter if you do the trip and go forward routine but we never did that when we unloaded into elevators. But the daughter would always trip and go on when the customers brouhgt trailers to field to load she never stopped baling that way just pulled along there trailers tripped it and went right back to baling while customers loaded there trailers. It really worked slick.

unless you already have wagons with sides on them for the thrower,I would not go to a throw unit after running the bale basket wagons period. My suggestion forget the thrower and get you a bales basket wagon instead, they do really work slick are far easier to unload and as far as the kids helping that will be short term anyway also. Been there done that. I grew up behind kicker balers, then used bale baskets wagons in later years ,would never go backk to kicker. Now use accumulator.Let me know if you have questions about them as I ran 3 units for several years and really like them

It is "cosmetically challenged" not mechanically. Sorry.
