Can someone tell me where I can get details of how cultivators are set up on a Farmall 404 tractor with narrow front. I have the cultivators but do not know how they should be set up on the tractor. The tractor has the belly hydraulics.
thanks, Jerry

Put a 4 row mid mount cultivator on an IHC 300 & an Oliver S77 many times, but not your exact combo. Hard to reply with what you've given us, I don't know where to start. Pictures, or a discription of where you are at now, or what parts are left over..... you know. :)

Paul, all I have at this time is a pick up load of plows, etc. There is a mechinism attached to both sides of the tractor about the area around the front half of the engine. They are some type of lift arms but nothing is attached. I would guess there are enough parts for a four row cultivator but not sure. My camera has been borrowed and I can't get pictures at this time. Maybe I can post pictures later. I was hoping to get started on mounting them to the tractor though. I would think the 300 Farmall and the 404 would have a similar set up. I'll piddle with it some and see what I come up with. thanks, Jerry

We used to have a 504 tricycle front with a front mounted four row cultivator. I don't know if this is what you have, but I'll take a stab at it. To mount it, you would drive the tractor forward into the mid section of the cultivator with it spread apart. Bolt the cultivator to the front mounting plate of the tractor, usually four bolts. There were two cylinders that raised the cultivator, one on each side. That may be the bar you are talking about. We then hooked the cylinders up to the tractor and raised the cultivators, one side at a time. This enables you to swing the cultivator toward the tractor which you would then bolt to the frame. The track plow then is attached to the three point.

Hope this gives you insight. Sorry I can't give you any pictures, the 504 is long gone, and I would have to go look and see if the cultivators are still somewhere in the weeds.

Txsprigger, thanks for the info. The bar I was referring to does how a cylinder on each side. I wish the cultivators I have were as you say but mine are not put together at all. There is nothing to drive the tractor to if you see what I mean, the thing is completely dismantled. I may be able to figure it out but just thought a picture or some discription would save me some time. Did you like the cultivator set with your 404? thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

Yep, that sounds like a frontmount, but you have to have the basic frame for the thing to mount to your tractor.

Even then, does your tractor have the frame rails to mount to?

Boy, some pictures would really help.

Yes, we liked it a lot. The 504 was low enough to the ground where you could easily see what you were doing, and would run for days on a tank of diesel.
