Krause #4 disc

Hi all , I bought a Krause #4 - 13' disc last week to bust up those grass root clumps in the new seed bed . Does anyone have any opinions on this disc ? It seems to be a heavy disc with 18" blades but 20's look like they can be mounted easy enough . I won't because that'd be over $700 in blades on a $180 disc ! SO...

I hooked the spike drag harrow behind it and they made a real nice smooth field . BUT those darned root balls with no dirt attached are all over the surface . Am I being anal about this ? Is it necessary to get rid of them before putting seed down ? I've wasted 35 gallons of fuel trying to get rid of that trash to no avail . All it is is root's and crowns - no dirt attached . What to do ?

I'm frustrated ! Still waiting on the soil results . Two weeks ! Price of applied lime and fertilizer just went up on Friday .

On a tangent , What do 30' manual fold spike drag's bring in other areas ? I know where there's a Noble 18' hydraulic lift spike harrow for $450 I'd like to have as this 30' footer is overkill behind a small disc like this . I just want to fine tune my stable of implements so they work together and can be pulled by my tractor . I got the 30'er because it was there and I was there and the price seemed right at the time but it's to wide for my use . My goal is a 18' disc , 18' drag , 15' cultipacker and maybe a 4-18" pull type plow . I don't need these on a yearly basis but will need them when the hay thin's out about every 3 - 5 or so years is my guess . So I might as well have them and not need them as need them and not have them . So what do ya'll think ? Thank's ...Randy
