Disc mower caddy ?'s

I am considering the purchase of a disc mower caddy to mount my Vicon CM247 7'10" disc mower on. I originally was going to pull it with my M4700 Kubota but in tough conditions it is a little much, so now I'm gonna put it on my Oliver 1955. But it is a real pain getting it hooked up to that big tractor, I have pondered trading it in on a trailed type mower but it would take about $5000 difference to trade which I don't think I can justify on my hobby operation? But if I could find a decent used caddy it would be so much easier to hook up. I just don't know if they really work worth a darn, opinions???

Luke,I totally agree with ol Gimpleg,if you ever pull one on a caddy you won't want to return to straight 3 pt. Tx Jim

I bought a caddy three years ago after using my neighbor's. I would not go back to 3point hook up. I have a NH 617, 9ft discmower on it and can now mow with a 45hp tractor instead of an 80hp tractor. It tows very well behind a pickup at50mph. it takes about two minutes to hook up.

This is interesting. I have my 7'10" mower with my M4700 Kubota which is 42pto hp. It does not bog down the engine but it runs a little warm on the temp gauge for my liking. Maybe if I had a caddy I could still run it on the 4700? Or if not at least it would be easier to hook to my Oliver 1955. What brands are decent? Prices? Any good used one's around?

The carts are great for customers that have 35-60 HP tractors and want to maximize their cutting width. Just remember you can reuse a cart on many disc mowers so if you obtain a larger tractor and want a larger disc mower you are not locked into one size as you would be if you purchased one of the pull-type disc mowers with no conditioners.

I just can't decide. I can trade up to a new Vicon 9'2" pull type mower for a little over $3000. That would be a better option, but darn, I am getting a lot of money tied up in this non-profitable hay business. I need to find a way to make it profitable. Or, I can just keep wrestling with putting my 7'10" 3-point disc mower on my 108hp tractor and quit whining! But that just seems stupid to me?

My caddy is a KMC brand and I paid about $2500 for it. There are several in my area and I am well satisfied.
