I have a single acting hydraulic cylinde in a New Holland stack wagon the will spray oil out the breather when fully actuated. Is this a sign of internal leakage past the plunger? How easy are these to rebuild?

The first and second table cylinders I have done are pretty simple, in fact most cylinders on NH hay equip are. If you are talking about one of the table cylinders, remember they are supposed to build air pressure on the rod side of the piston so as to force the table to return more quickly. A good breather and check valve are a must after the cylinder rebuild. If you are not working on a table cylinder, disregard that last part.

Thanks for the info. It is the second table cylinder that needs work. I did not realize it used the air pressure, but after thinking about the motion it makes perfect sense. After releasing the hydraulic pressure it bounces back getting over the center of gravity and then lowers slowly.

Not familiar with your cylinder. I redid all cylinders on a JD 95 combine once. Every function had a differenc cylinder design and different access method.

I think that the biggest challenge is figuring out how to get it apart. After that, packing is a no brainer as are seals.

Now on the larger lift cylinders, I had to use a comealong to get the new packing back into the cylinders but I got her done.
