I would like to move up to a larger baler in the future and have been looking at vermeer. I have a neighbor that is pleased with his 5400 rebel, but used models are hard to find in this area and are usually out of my price range. However 504i models are MUCH easier to locate and are priced lower to boot. So, I was wondering is my IH 574 diesel enough tractor for the 504? I live in SW Mo. and have some hills to deal with. Nothing steep, but hills to be sure. Was also wondering on this baler, do you have to kick out the pto when you're ready to drop the bale? Some MFG's disengage the belts one way or another when you raise the gate, but my old hesston doesn't. Any info would be appreciated!!!!! !

I have seen a MF245 operate a vermeer 504 superI. I cut the pto off when I dump a bale. I bale one field that drops 40 feet in 100 foot stretch. It's takes a 80 hp tractor going up and down these hills and brakes will not stop you.
