Does anyone have a in-line baler and know why the knotter head assembley breaks right at the top where the casting holds the worm gear into the housing? Every 5- 10,000 bales this piece of junk breaks the housing on the knotter.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this problem is getting to be very expensive.

I have not had this problem in 30,000 bales, nor has anyone else near me who has an inline ever had this problem. Do you know the history of your baler? Here"s a theory: If a needle had ever gotten bent and hit the knotter casting and broke it, it could have also bent the shaft inside. If the broken needle was replaced and the broken knotter casting was replaced, but the old shaft was reused every time, even if only slightly bent, it could be the cause of the recurring problem. This might not be the case at all, but someplace to start?
