I just brought home a Seargeant Sawmill, made in Greensboro, NC. Anyone ever seen, or better yet have some pictures of one? It had already been disassembled when I got it, and I'm having trouble figuring it all out. This is my first sawmill of my own, but not the first I've been around, so I know a little about them(mostly how to off-bear and how to to bring the Sawyer something to drink:) ) The safety of sawing is utmost in my mind, and I've got a experienced sawyer to teach me, if I can get the saw together. Sounds like you have the right idea. I learned what I know about that trade from a couple of different people. Both were patient teachers (one passed away about 6 years ago) and I hold both in very high esteem.

Couple of other suggestions I would make. CH Wendel wrote a book "The Circular Sawmill". Covers a lot of different brands with pictures. Unfortunatly no sergeant's but lots of pix covering drives etc. Another booklet I would suggest is "The Effecient Sawmill", Simonds puts this one out and it covers set up fairly well. Should be available from the dealer that your sawyer/teacher gets his bits and other supplies from. I know Wendells book is still in print and would bet the simonds book is available also.
