Can I get new parts for an old plow?

I purchased a 1939 9N tractor and some implements came along with it. The worst of the bunch is an old two bottom plow. It's about on it's last leg. One mould board is missing and the,for lack of a better term "eye bolts" that hold the back of the board together are pitted severely. The front plow still plows, but I suspect it could perform better. I recently came across a couple of plows, a two bottom and disc plow for $275 and$225, respectively. They both are probably about the same age of the tractor but in better shape than my plow. My question is, can I find replacement parts for the old plow, or should I just buy one or both of the other plows? Also, what are the primary differences between the regular two bottom and disc plow? Thanks for any help.

I picked up shares and shins and hardware for my Dearborn 2-14 this spring at my local TSC this past spring, I had to dig through the pile to find what I was looking for, but they had it all Valuebilt also has what you need, as long as you know what you need , I took my worn stuff with me and matched it up at TSC. @ shares and 2 shins and hardware was around 45 bucks, gonna try and get one more season outta the rear moldboard but they had that too for around 50-60 bucks. Hope this helps, T.J.

The normal two bottom moldboard plow is the standard plow for most situations. The disk plow is sometimes used to create terraces in a field. If you are going to use your tractor for mostly hobby and gardening tasks, you probably need the moldboard plow. Scott PA (another post) has parts for most of these plows, and as he says, he just needs the number off the back of the part you need (not the serial off the plate on the brackets at the top). There are some other sources for parts as well, and you can try your local tractor boneyard places. They often have fields of old equipment you can stroll through (with bug repellent in place) and you may well find what you need that way. Stores like TSC, etc., do not sell parts for these plows, although you can get the bolts at those places. (Take the old bolts with you.)

A Ford 101 series plow is the nicest plow and least expensive to repair but you can get most of the wearing parts for a Ferguson and Dearborn plow also, all wearing parts have numbers on the back so the dealer knows what style bottom you have and can sell you the correct parts, let me know by clicking on my name to email me if you need more info.
