I have a McCormick-Deering Hay loader (if that is the correct term) that came with my property. It had a galvanized bed and sides with Mc ormick-Deering decal on each side...however the decal doesn't include model # or any other ID. I have freed up all the sprockets and bearing but one and need to fabricate 2 new wooden shafts that lift the hay... Is there any way to come up with a model number??? or find a parts/operators manual??? I have been cutting some pastures with my Case DC3 and a 1950 vintage EDSC-7 sickle bar mower...neighbors already think I am odd...using the hay loader would really, really convince them

Paul,
McCormick-Deering produced seven (7) different Hay Loaders whose description, and parts may be found in the International Harvester Manual HM-1. McCormick (AND McCormick-Deering) Parts Catalog for Hay Machines.
1) McCormick Deering Gearless Rake Hay Loader (1910-1930)
2) McCormick Deering Adjustable Windrow Hay Loader (1920-1948)
3) McCormick Deering Model W Adjustable Windrow Green Crop Loader (1939 - ?)
4) McCormick Deering Cylinder Rake Hay Loader (1929 - ?)
5) McCormick Deering Model R Green Crop Loader (1938 - ?)
6) International Steel Windrow Hay Loader (1914-1921)
7) Double Cylinder Swath and Windrow Hay Loader (1914- 1923)
The catalog shows only one of the loaders that fulfills your criteria of having "galvanized bed and sides with McCormick-Deering decal on each side."
#4 McCormick Deering Cylinder Rake Hay Loader (1929 - ?)
The #5 McCormick Deering Model R Green Crop Loader (1938 - ?) is galvanized as well, however, there's no decal shown.
I hope this helps.
Mark

I really don't know what kind of wood was used. I do know that the horse drawn mower and rake tongues, inaddition to the doubletree and singletree were made out of ash. Ash is a very flexible and sturdy wood. It is presently used to make baseball bats and hockey sticks.
