How long do you guys like to wait after a good rain before you cut hay? A day or two? A week? Low humidity?
If you cut over damp ground do you normally cut higher and turn it quicker?

If I'm not using the cab tractor as soon as it slacks off enough I wont get soaked to the skin, if I am, as sson as the sky gets the least bit light in the west and the lightning passes. I cut at the height for the crop, not the soil moisture. On wet ground I do like to tedder, maybe turn let some spots dry to keep it curing on the dryest ground.

For me, it depends on the likely length of the "window of opportunity" following the rain. If it appears it will be only a few days, I've been known to go out and cut even before the rain lets up. A little rain doesn't hurt much when the hay is green, only after it dries. The next morning I'll run a tedder over it, maybe again in the afternoon if it's a particularly good drying day.
If it looks like an extended stretch of good weather, I might wait a day, but remember, there's a reason the old saying is "make hay while the sun shines". Given the accuracy of today's weather forecasts, it's still sage advice.

I learned a long time ago that rain doesn't hurt fresh cut hay so if it looks like a front with a big high coming in I cut before the rain. I set the haybine to make tight windrows wait for the weather to clear then tedd it out when the sun arrives . I think it puts me almost a day ahead of where I'd be if I wait to cut after the rain. If you use a discbine you can cut while it's still wet.
