I have an older 9' Woods brush cutter model # SM 2090. Does any one Know the minimum horse power needed to drive this ol beast.

does it have 2 gear boxes or just 1? if it has 2 then it will be much easier to pull. a 40hp will handle it fine. i run a 15 batwing with 75 hp and cuts fine. this based on it being a pull type and not 3pt.

It has 2 gear boxes, PTO shaft drives into LH box & then cross shaft to RH box. 1 head below each box, 2 free pivoting blades on each head ( very stout blades)
I used it for some lite duty cutting,weeds & such with the Ford 4000, but it makes the tractor suck wind pretty good,& I don't wanna tear the PTO drive outa the tractor.

I'd think about 60-70 hp for a 9 footer.
